STEAM
In STEAM the children in Year Foundation and Year One have been developing their skills in drawing different types of lines as well as practising their paper folding skills. Students had so much fun and were excited to create a 3D piece of art using their paper strips.
Students drew a variety of lines on strips of paper, such as zig zag, wavey, dot dash and castle (it looks like the top of a castle) lines. Students then practised their paper folding using zig zag fold (concentina), rolling paper and the hardest fold, the castle fold.
Foundation
Students had a lot of fun creating their 3D art piece and were very quick to pick up the skills. Well Done Foundation students.
Year One
Year One's drawing the lines on their strips of paper.
Finished 3D creations.
Year Two
Today the students completed their Crazy Hair pictures. Students learnt how to draw different styles of eyes, nose and mouth. They then used a variety of materials - wool, lace, buttons, pom poms, cotton wool and sequins to create the crazy hair on the person.
Here is a sneak peak of a few but come to the Art Show in Term 3 and you will see them all on display.
Art Smocks / Old Shirts
It is great to see children using their art smocks, especially this week when we were painting. If you haven't brought in an Art Smock or an Old Shirt to wear you can still do so. It will help to keep your child's uniform from getting dirty from paint and glue.
Thank you
Old Newspapers and Magazines
Thank you to all those who brought in old newspapers and magazines.
Physical Education
Thank you to all of our students for all of their enthusiasm and effort during PE sessions in Term 1.
In recent weeks, students from Year 3 to Year 6 have been developing their batting and fielding skills. Luckily, the weather has been kind to us and we have continued to dodge the rain.
Looking towards Term 2, Year 5s and 6s will have the opportunity to represent our school in Soccer and Netball at Interschool Sports.
Cricket Program
For any students with an interest in cricket, Preston Baseballers Cricket Club are offering evening cricket sessions across April and March. These are open to students of any ability. Please see the flyer and link below if you would like to register.

ITALIAN
Italian Adventures in Foundation!
Ciao a tutti!!Our Foundation students have begun their exciting Italian journey, and the classroom has been full of smiles, laughter, and lots of “Ciao!” With the help of our special friend Pinocchio, students are learning their very first Italian words through fun games, songs, and interactive activities.
We started by learning how to say hello, “Ciao!” and the students loved greeting their friends and teacher in Italian. Soon after, we practised saying goodbye with a big and cheerful “Arrivederci!”
The students have also been learning how to introduce themselves using “Mi chiamo…” followed by their name.
It has been wonderful to see students building confidence as they explore a new language in a fun and supportive environment. Families are warmly encouraged to join in the fun at home — try saying “Ciao!” to each other or practise introducing yourselves in Italian together!
A Presto!!
