Foundation

Dear Families,

We've had another busy and exciting week in Foundation! On Thursday, the Foundation and their buddies had their assembly. It was wonderful to share what we've been learning with the whole school. We sang the rhyming song 'I Know An Old Lady' with Marty on the guitar. The children enjoyed identifying the silly rhyming words and bringing the song to life through actions.

As part of our learning during the Lenten period, we also shared a kindness activity completed with our Year 6 buddies. Together, we explored what it means to follow in the footsteps of Jesus and grow closer to God. The students created a flower, writing acts of kindness on each petal. This connected beautifully with our theme for the year, “Together We Grow,” reminding us that kindness helps us flourish as a community.

Our Grade 6 buddies were, as always, wonderful role models. They supported the Foundation students throughout the activity and guided them confidently during the assembly. The Foundation children get so much joy out of learning from and working with their buddies. Thank you to all the parents who joined us for the assembly. Both the Foundation students and the Grade 6s did a fantastic job presenting!

On Monday 30th at 10:45am the Foundation and Grade 1's are presenting a reflection on Palm Sunday, it will include some acting and singing! You're welcome to come along if you're available. Have a great weekend!

Year 1

Hi Families,

It’s hard to believe we are almost at the end of Term 1! I thought this would be a wonderful opportunity to take you on a little tour of our classroom and share some of the fantastic learning that has been taking place.

Pictured below, you’ll see our class rules, which the children co-constructed together and proudly signed, showing their commitment to creating a positive and respectful learning environment. You’ll also spot our “tricky words” that we have been working hard to read, write, and spell.

In Wellbeing, we’ve been exploring the different types of problems we might face and learning strategies to help us solve them. During Inquiry, the children have been busy investigating, experimenting, and asking great questions about the world around them.

You’ll also notice our fish artwork, inspired by the book Swimmy. This has become a special feature in our classroom, reminding us of the importance of teamwork and working together.

I hope you enjoy this little glimpse into our classroom!

Have a wonderful weekend 😊

Year 2

Hello Families,

So hard to believe we're almost at the end of our first term together as ''Gruffalos''. As always  our week was full of fun, laughter, learning and celebrations. We welcomed back Coleen, celebrated a birthday and enjoy Harmony week starting off with our class made poster. Thank You for your donations towards our fundraising and preparing your children to end the week with making cultural connections.

Next week, we will review our term's learning  and celebrate the Easter story through our Faith and class/school wide activities. It has been such a wonderful teaching-learning journey with the Year 2 and no doubt they are fully responsible for how creative their classroom looks. Have a great weekend ahead!

Year 3/4AL

It has been a busy and productive term in 3/4 AL, especially in Inquiry! For our Inquiry unit this term, students have been exploring the human body systems; muscular, skeletal, digestive and nervous systems. Students have been developing a deeper understanding of how these systems work together to support the human body. A major focus throughout this unit has been building strong research skills. The wonderful students in 3/4 AL have been learning how to locate reliable information, take notes, and organise their findings in meaningful ways. It has been really fabulous to see their confidence grow as researchers.

To present their Inquiry learning this term, students have been using a variety of creative formats. These include posters, informative booklets and interactive digital presentations using Blooket. Each student has been encouraged to choose a format that best showcases their understanding, and the results have been fantastic so far. This inquiry unit has been filled with curiosity, collaboration, and a lot of hard work! Well done 3/4 AL!

Year 3/4 T

This term has really flown! It has been a full and engaging term in 3/4T.  As the term wraps up, students have been deeply engaged in our Inquiry unit on the human body. They have explored the muscular, skeletal, digestive and nervous systems, building an understanding of how each system functions and how they connect to keep the body working effectively.

Throughout the unit, students have been developing their ability to work as independent learners. They have explored how to find and select useful information, record key ideas in their own words, and organise their thinking in a way that supports their understanding. It has been great to see students becoming more confident in taking ownership of their learning and explaining their thinking to others.

Students have brought this learning together through the creation of detailed posters and handmade booklets that they are currently working on. Even at this stage, it is clear the effort, thought and care students are putting into presenting their knowledge clearly, while also showcasing their creativity and individual approach.

This Inquiry unit has encouraged curiosity, persistence and collaboration across the class. 3/4T should feel very proud of the way they have approached their learning and the progress they have made throughout the term!

Year 5/6 J

What an exceptional first term it has been in 5/6J it has been so far!! Students have learnt and grown so much in such a short amount of time, I am looking forward to seeing this continue as the year goes on.

Students each week have the chance to borrow books from the library, faciliated by our great parent helper Prem. It is an awesome way for students to find a book they love, and grow their passion to read.

At the beginning of each session, Prem will read a picture book to students, which is througly enjoyed by all and shows that picture books are not limited to age! Find some pictures below that shows exactly this and how invested our 5/6J are in their reading!

Italian

Aisha: In Italian, we have been singing Italian songs and we also worked with partners practicing conversation, and it was really fun!

Music

Kaone: In Music, we were listening to olden day music, like classical music and we were figuring out the theme and what it sounds like. A lot of them were dramatic and they had a lot of instruments. I liked classical music!

STEAM

Arvin: This week we’re painting trees as if you are lying down and looking up at how they are all connected. We’ve been using cotton buds to blot paint around the branches. The colours we used are autumnal colours like red, yellow and orange. I’m enjoying it!

P.E.

Katalina: What we have really been enjoying in P.E. is T-ball. Learning how to bat and field, and learning baseball. PE was very fun this term and I can’t wait to learn more sports in the future!
