Deputy Principal

Dear Sacred Heart Community,
What a fantastic week of learning here at Sacred Heart! We learnt that 292 million people (that's 292,000,000) in the world walk more that 30 minutes every day to collect water. That number seems beyond fantasy. So, today, the entire school walked for Sasselia, a young girl from Tanzania, who is late to school every day because she has to collect water for her family. Our students walked the perimeter of our playground, having the opportunity to carry a bucket of water to empathise what life is like for young kids like Sasselia. Thanks Kate for a tremendous opportunity for our kids to learn about the inequities that exist in our society.
MAP (Mathematics Acceleration Program)
In 2026 our school Sacred Heart is involved in a tremendous program called MAP, an initiative from MACS (Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools) to improve educational outcomes in Mathematics for students in both Year 2 and Year 4. Teachers are being provided with PD (Professional Development) on the acqusition and fluency needed in maths to improve student performance. This week Linda from MACS came to see our teachers in action and was suitably impressed! We are so lucky to have this team of dedicated teachers (Liz, Lauren, Tess and Abby) who are committed to learning and improving their craft. Why? Because the students are at the heart of everything we do!
Sacred Heart Award Recipients
Congratulations to all students below who were recognised at this week's assembly for their outstanding achievement at school. You should all be proud of your efforts!
Student Leadership
Had a wonderful time with our current School Leaders exploring what leadership means to them and what qualities they bring to the table. Really looking forward to developing this group in 2026......
My name is Callix. As you already know, I'm Bradman house captain for 2026! I’m approachable and reliable. I’m kind and helpful too! To me leadership is about setting an example for others and helping them, and to do that teamwork is key.
My name is Cody and I'm one of the school leaders for 2026. I am trustworthy and responsible. To me leadership is to be reliable, approachable and give respect to other people.
My name is Raffaele, l love to play netball with my friends and love the school. l am the sport leader for 2026 and l love a leadership to be kind and trustworthy to everyone in the school and being responsible.
My name is Azariah and I am house leader for this year.Three of my strengths are being positive, confident and supportive. To me leadership is about helping others with kindness, being fair, setting a good example for others and working as a team because you achieve more together. I hope to be a good house leader for 2026.
