Careers Update
Thursday 12 March 2026
What is Career Development?
Career development is the complex process of managing learning, work and transitions over one's lifespan. Adopting the High 5 Principles of Career Development equips you and your teenager to approach the process positively.
The High 5 Messages of Career Development are based on the concept that one's
education, work, and life pathway is a work in progress rather than a straight line.
3. Know yourself and follow your heart
Combining our interests with career opportunities helps us find fulfilment. When we have skills or ability in a certain area, we have a realistic chance of achieving it, and when we do something we enjoy, we tend to do our best.
See the Careers Page in next weeks newsletter for the message 4.
Last Wednesday students from Year 10 took part in a University Day. Students visited either Deakin, Swinburne or ACU depending on their future career interest areas as outlined in their Morrisby profiles. They heard from current students, undertook campus tours and engaged in workshops and presentations.
These opportunities are a chance for students to think about their potential post school pathways as they move into selecting their VCE program. "Today was a great opportunity to see and experience what university is like" - Scarlett and Lydia
"It was educational, fun and had the freedom to adventure" - Ava, Freya, Jas
