It’s been a busy time in Wellbeing! Over the past month, students have participated in a variety of activities, including Breakfast Club, the Respect Group, and our Diversity and Inclusion initiatives. We also enjoyed the engaging On the Ropes performance, which encouraged students to reflect on positive relationships and respectful behaviour.

Looking ahead to Term 2, we are excited to launch a new group on Mondays called “The Real You.” This group will be for students in Years 9 and 10, with students invited to participate. The program will focus on helping students develop confidence, self-awareness, and positive connections with others.

The Wellbeing team supports students’ emotional health, relationships, and overall wellbeing in a safe, supportive environment. Students can visit if they feel overwhelmed, are experiencing friendship difficulties, or simply need someone to talk to. We also run small group programs that help build resilience, confidence, and positive social skills. Our doors are always open, and alternative arrangements are made if a student needs extra time or support.

Students can self-refer via Compass or by emailing wellbeing@mc.vic.edu.au, and parents or carers can also contact the team. We can provide information and referrals to external services, including community groups, psychologists, and support for students experiencing school refusal.

The Wellbeing team also runs a lunch support program for students who may have forgotten their lunch. Students can access food during the first 15 minutes of lunch, and to help manage the busy space, we ask that they come on their own.

Our Wellbeing team includes Sarah, Sue, Gina, and Linda. Sarah supports students in Years 7 and 8, Sue works with Years 9 and 10, and Gina and Linda support Years 11 and 12. With our new staff photos available, we have included them here so that everyone knows who we are.

We are also supported by our school nurse, Brooke, and our speech therapist, Evie, who are important members of the Wellbeing team.

On the Ropes – A Powerful Performance for Our Students

Recently, our Year 9 and 10 students attended the On the Ropes theatre performance, a powerful program exploring themes of relationships, consent and respect. Through a compelling storyline and realistic scenarios, the performance encouraged students to think about communication, boundaries and the impact of their choices.

Students were highly engaged throughout the sessions and responded thoughtfully to the themes presented. The performance prompted important reflection and conversations around respectful relationships and personal responsibility, reinforcing key messages that support the wellbeing and safety of our students. We would like to thank the On the Ropes team for delivering such a meaningful and impactful performance for our school community.
