Year 7 Camp, with help from the Year 10 peer support leaders!

During weeks 3 and 4 of this term, the Year 7s embarked in their sub school groups to Gundiwindi Lodge in Silvan. They were able to get outside their comfort zones, and take part in a number of exciting activities, including my personal favourite, the bush dance! They also visited Healesville Sanctuary, and watched the exciting bird show: Spirits of the Sky.
Joining each sub school group was a collection of Year 10 students, the peer support leaders. Each year 10 joined an activity group and supported the year 7s in getting involved in the activities, and helped them build connections and friendships that will hopefully continue throughout their time at UHS.
Here is an account from one of the year 10 peer support leaders, Polina Rybachuk: Being able to attend the year 7 camp as a Peer Support Buddy was an unforgettable, emotional and very useful experience for me. During the camp I felt a warm, friendly atmosphere and made new wonderful connections with lovely people. Activities such as: flying fox and giant swing made me feel like the happiest child in the world. I gained new, fascinating knowledge about Australia. I really want to thank all the teachers for providing me this opportunity for being able to feel magnificent emotions and having new special memories that will always warm my heart.
