BEANSTACK READING PLATFORM
The school’s students continue to rack up the points on Beanstack, which is absolutely wonderful! This fortnight, we would like to congratulate class 8 Gold, who have – for the first time since our records commenced – joined the Leaderboard! Well done, students of 8 Gold – this is an amazing achievement! We would love to see other classes who have not yet featured follow your lead!
WORLD WAR 1 MEMORIAL BOXES
Coinciding with Year 9’s study of World War 1 in Humanities, Pamela Coyne Library has been hosting sessions in which students become familiar with objects reflecting the Australian experience of the conflict. Over 416,000 Australians were involved in World War 1. The Memorial Box – provided by the Australian War Memorial - contains such items as a slouch hat, a tunic, a nurse’s shoulder cape and a Red Cross armband. Students learn about these as primary sources, and perhaps – albeit briefly - gain insight into the lives of those Australians at that pivotal moment in history.
ASH (AFTER SCHOOL HOMEWORK) PROGRAM
Hosted by Pamela Coyne Library at Dalton Road Campus, our ASH (After School Homework) Program provides the opportunity for junior students to receive assistance with their homework and study.
As exams approach for Year 9 and Year 8 HORIZONS students (and those undertaking Year 9 subjects), ASH is an ideal program for our Junior Monicans who want to do their very best on their assessments. Healthy snacks are also offered to give students’ brains a boost of energy to power their study.
VICTORIAN PREMIERS’ READING CHALLENGE
The 2026 Premiers’ Reading Challenge has come to a close for this year, and we are so proud of our students who have been involved! Their achievements will be celebrated in the next Principal’s Bulletin – stay tuned!
