IDAHOBIT Flag Raising Ceremony
On the May 15, 2025, Surf Coast Shire Council hosted a vibrant IDAHOBIT flag-raising ceremony at its Torquay office to mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersex Discrimination, and Transphobia. Mayor Mike Bodsworth led the ceremonial raising of the rainbow flag, which will fly proudly throughout May as a symbol of the community's commitment to inclusion and support for the LGBTQIA+ community.
The event also featured the unveiling of the Rainbow Tree art project, allowing residents to contribute messages of support and creativity. A morning tea followed, fostering connection and reflection among attendees. This celebration underscores Surf Coast Shire's dedication to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all.
A special thank you to our school captains for attending and representing our school with pride and respect at this important community event.
Consent Labs
We had the pleasure recently of having Consent Labs sessions run at Surf Coast Secondary College for our Year 8 and Year 11 VCE cohorts.
Their facilitators were engaging, vibrant, and created a comfortable environment for our students to engage in these crucial conversations. The interactive session covered key topics such as understanding consent, setting boundaries, and fostering healthy relationships.
