Athletics

On Thursday 4th September, selected students from Kalinda Primary School competed in the Ringwood North District Athletics, following strong performances at our House Athletics Carnival earlier last term.

Our students faced tough competition from nine other schools in the district but showed incredible effort, sportsmanship, and determination across all events. We’re proud to share that Kalinda Primary School finished 1st overall in the field events – a fantastic achievement!

Students who placed 1st or 2nd in their events qualified for the Maroondah/Manningham Division Athletics, where several of our athletes were invited to compete at the next level of competition. Once again, they delivered excellent performances and even achieved personal bests (PBs).

A special congratulations goes to the following students who have now qualified for the Eastern Metropolitan Region Athletics, to be held on Thursday 23rd October. We wish these athletes all the best in their preparations and at the next level of competition:

• Ava H – 1st in Discus, 2nd in Shot Put

• Scarlett H – 1st in 200m, 2nd in 100m

• Ryder – 1st in both Discus and Hurdles

• Abi M – 2nd in Discus

Well done to all students who represented Kalinda – we are proud of your achievements! A big thank you to Glenn for assisting at the district event, and to all the parents for supporting the Kalinda Athletics Team.

Basketball - Maroondah/Manningham Division Finals

Last week, our Boys Interschool Basketball Team represented our school at the Maroondah/Manningham Division Basketball Finals after going undefeated in the District Interschool Sport competition — and what an incredible day it was!

The team had an outstanding performance, playing two strong games against Ringwood North Primary School and Yarra Road Primary School. They displayed fantastic skill, teamwork, determination and sportsmanship, winning both matches and being crowned Division Champions!

🏆As a result of their success, the team has now qualified for the Eastern Metropolitan Region Primary Basketball Championships, to be held on Monday 27th October. This is a huge achievement, and we are incredibly proud of every player.

A big thank you to Joel Newland for his outstanding coaching and support on the day.

Hoop Time Regional Finals - Girls Future Stars Team

The Regional Hoop Time Girls Finals were held last Wednesday the 15th of October, at the State Basketball Stadium, and we are thrilled to share that our Future Stars girls’ team has successfully progressed to the State Finals after an incredible day of Basketball.

The girls demonstrated outstanding determination, teamwork and skill throughout the competition. Their hard work and commitment paid off in a thrilling final match that went into extra time, where they managed to secure a well-deserved victory to claim their spot in the upcoming state-level event.

A special mention goes to Karine, who did a fantastic job coaching the team. Her approach was both supportive and fair, helping the students stay focused and confident throughout the day.

We are extremely proud of the team and look forward to supporting them at the State Finals!
