Middle School Report

As we move further into a busy and productive term at Westall Secondary College, we would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank our dedicated staff and Careers and Pathways Team for their outstanding work in supporting our middle school students.

Over the past few weeks, our students and families have been involved in a range of important learning and wellbeing opportunities, including highly successful Parent-Teacher Conferences, Year 10 Work Experience placements, the Year 9 Careers and Pathways Program, and the preparation of detailed Semester Reports.

These experiences reflect our strong commitment to building meaningful partnerships between school and home, supporting student growth, and preparing our young people for future success. We are incredibly grateful to our staff for the care, time and energy they continue to invest in creating engaging opportunities and personalised support for every learner.

We also extend our sincere thanks to our parents, carers and wider community for their ongoing involvement and support. Working together allows us to create the best possible outcomes for our students, both academically and personally.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

A huge congratulations and thank you to all of our parents and carers for your outstanding attendance at the Parent-Teacher Conferences held on 28 April. We were thrilled to see one of the highest attendance rates we have had in recent years.

At Westall Secondary College, we value the strong partnership between home and school, and it was wonderful to see so many families engaging in meaningful conversations about student learning, growth and wellbeing. These discussions play an important role in supporting our learners to achieve their personal best.

We greatly appreciate the time, input and ongoing communication from our families. Working together creates the strongest foundation for student success, and we look forward to continuing these positive partnerships throughout the year.

Thank you again for your continued support of our school community.

Year 10 Work Experience

Another amazing week for our Year 10 students as they completed their Work Experience placements across the community. Students had the opportunity to develop valuable workplace skills, explore future career pathways and gain real-world experience in a variety of industries.

We would like to sincerely thank our parents and families for the incredible support provided in helping students secure placements and encouraging them throughout the week. These experiences are invaluable in building confidence, independence and career readiness for our young people.

A special thank you also goes to the many local businesses, organisations and employers who generously welcomed our students into their workplaces and provided such positive learning opportunities.

We are incredibly proud of the way our Year 10 students represented Westall Secondary College within the wider community.

Year 9 Careers and Pathways Program

While our Year 10 students were out completing Work Experience, our Year 9 students participated in an engaging alternative program in their electives focused on careers, pathways and future planning.

Throughout the week, students explored a range of career and education pathways, developing a deeper understanding of their strengths, interests and future opportunities. They also took part in workshops facilitated by Elevate Education, with a focus on time management, organisation and strategies for setting themselves up for success both at school and beyond.

The program provided students with valuable opportunities to build independence, reflect on their goals and develop important lifelong learning skills that align with their future aspirations.

We are proud of the positive way our Year 9 students engaged in the program and embraced the opportunity to focus on their future pathways.

Semester Reports

Our staff are currently working hard preparing detailed Semester Reports, which will be published later this term. These reports provide valuable insight into each student’s academic progress, learning behaviours and growth across their subjects.

Semester Reports are an important part of strengthening communication between school and home, allowing families to celebrate achievements, identify areas for continued improvement and support students in setting future learning goals.

We thank our teachers for the significant time and care they invest in developing meaningful feedback that supports every learner’s growth and success at Westall Secondary College.

As we continue to build momentum through the term, we want to extend a sincere thank you to all staff at Westall Secondary College for their ongoing commitment to supporting our students. Across classrooms, programs and student engagement opportunities, the consistency, care and professionalism shown by staff ensures that every learner is known, supported and challenged.

A special acknowledgement must go to our Middle School Leadership Team, who have led a highly coordinated and purposeful series of programs this term. From Parent-Teacher Conferences and Work Experience to the Year 9 Careers and Pathways program and the preparation of Semester Reports, their leadership has ensured that our middle years students are provided with rich, meaningful and well-supported learning experiences.

The collaboration between teams, the high expectations set for students, and the shared commitment to improvement continue to strengthen outcomes across the middle school. We are proud of the work being done and grateful for the dedication of all staff in making these opportunities possible for our students.

Best wishes,

Ms Lyndal Yardas
