Bayfit Water Safety Program

The Bayfit Swim Program being facilitated by Bayfit is guided by the Victorian Curriculum and The Victorian Water Safety Certificate (VWSC). The Victorian Water Safety Certificate is a survival benchmark mandated by the Victorian Government and embedded in the Victorian Health and Physical Education Curriculum, and it represents the minimum standard of water safety and survival skills every student needs to have by the end of Year 6.

Some of the skills include swimming 50 metres continuously, treading water, floating, safe entries, and basic safe rescues. The Williamstown Life Saving Club picks up the students' water safety education from Year 5 to Year 6 in a beach setting.

These lessons are not the same as ongoing weekly swimming lessons at a swim school that refine and focus on stroke technique.

District Cross Country

Last Thursday we had 23 students compete in District Cross Country at McIvor Reserve, they ran in cold, wet and windy conditions and represented Sacred Heart well. A big congratulations for all the students who participated and gave it their best! 2 students will progress through to Division Cross Country at Werribee Racecourse on the 28th of May.
