Message from the Principal

Huge News!!!

As you will have heard, we have been successful in getting money for the next stage of planning for the college Master Plan. This is a huge step, and particularly for it to form part of the budget cycle rather than the election cycle, as election promises have a long lead time for them to be needed to be filled (if at all)

I would like to thank everyone who has continued to advocate to the State Government for this, as well as to our local member Kathleen Matthews-Ward for her tireless work in getting this over the line.

I can’t wait to share the progress on this project over the next 12 months.

The importance of Partnerships @Glenroy

At Glenroy College, we strongly believe that meaningful community partnerships play a vital role in enriching learning opportunities, strengthening student wellbeing and creating pathways for future success. As a school, we recognise that education extends beyond the classroom, and through collaboration with local organisations, businesses, universities and community groups, we are able to provide experiences that empower our students to thrive.

Our partnerships create authentic opportunities for students to engage with the wider world and develop the confidence, skills and aspirations needed for their future. Through our work with RMIT University and La Trobe University, students are exposed to tertiary education pathways, STEM learning experiences and mentoring opportunities that help build ambition and broaden horizons. Programs such as Women in STEM and hands-on university workshops allow students to see themselves as future leaders and innovators.

We are also proud of our partnership with Academy Movement through our AFL Academy program. This initiative provides students with opportunities to develop leadership, teamwork, health and fitness skills while exploring future pathways in sport, coaching and sports management. The positive impact on student engagement, attendance and connectedness has already been significant.

Community organisations such as Islamic Relief Australia, the Glenroy Lions Club and local Rotary groups continue to support our college through cultural celebrations, student support initiatives and community engagement opportunities. Events such as our community Iftar dinner highlight the importance of inclusion, belonging and celebrating the rich diversity of our school community.

These partnerships strengthen the connection between school and community while helping students build resilience, aspiration and a sense of belonging. At Glenroy College, we remain committed to working collaboratively with our community to ensure every student has the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed.

House Athletics Carnival

We are gearing up for next week’s Athletics Carnival, or as I like to call it - The Victorious Return of Gold House.

It’s has been an outstanding addition to our college calendar, and we’ll share the results on the day!
