Eight Years of Dedication: Celebrating Jacinth’s Rise in the Australian Girls Choir

Established in 1984, the AGC began with an inaugural acceptance of about a hundred girls. Over the decades, its numbers have grown exponentially, drawing thousands of participants from diverse backgrounds across Australia, with recent expansion to an overseas center.

Jacinth’s journey began in 2018 at a junior level. Through weekly lessons, she grew in confidence and honed her singing skills. She has consistently participated in biannual concerts, and in recent years, as she moved into senior levels, her performances expanded to include various high-profile gigs. These engagements have included corporate and VIP events, such as the Prime Minister’s Olympic Dinner, an International One Day Cricket match at the MCG, corporate galas, events for the Salvation Army, and numerous end-of-year Christmas carols across Melbourne suburbs, shopping centres, CBD precincts, and Crown Melbourne.

This year has been particularly memorable. In June, Jacinth made her debut as a solo singer during the Winter Showcase concert. She led her group with a solo performance of "It's Time to Dance" from the TV show The Prom. It was a truly proud moment to witness her confidence shine.

The second highlight of the year was her acceptance into the most senior level: the Performing Girls Group. With only a handful of girls selected each year, Jacinth undertook a rigorous audition process to achieve this goal—a dream she has held since starting her journey eight years ago.

We wish to express our gratitude to Lakeside College for fostering such opportunities. It was through a trial lesson hosted at the college that Jacinth was introduced to the AGC program, took an immediate liking to it, and enrolled. Furthermore, the college has been consistently supportive of Jacinth’s performing interests through its educational program and extracurricular activities in music and the performing arts.

We continue to hope that Jacinth’s journey in both the Choir and her performing arts education will bring joy to herself, her loved ones, and her community.

Sincerely,

Josiah & Joanna ( Silvanus )
