Bunnings Donation

The S.R.C have been very busy these last few weeks. Recently, we drafted, proofread and signed a letter to Bunnings Warehouse in Vermont South.

As a valued local business we wrote to their manager, Marie Apostolopoulos, to ask for a donation of 30 (a class set) of the 20L pail buckets to support the Performing Arts program at St James. We were hopeful that their donation would ensure that each class had a full set of drums for their rhythm and music lessons in Performing Arts.

The S.R.C were delighted to hear that Marie was happy to donate everything that we asked for and even offered to drop it off at our school.

On behalf of the St James community, Tracey O’Connor (our Performing Arts teacher) and the S.R.C, I’d like to thank Marie Apostolopoulos and Vermont South Bunnings Warehouse for their generous donation.

Their donation will provide students with success in their Performing Arts classes where they will be able to reach their full drumming potential.

Victorian Child Safety Standards

The new 11 Victorian Child Safe Standards came into effect on Friday 1 July 2022.

In July 2021, the Victorian Government announced new Child Safe Standards (CSS) to further strengthen child safe environments and protect children from abuse.

From 1 July 2022, 11 new child safety standards have replaced the seven previous Child Safe Standards (and principles) which had been in place since 2016. For more information on these Standards, please visit: https://ccyp.vic.gov.au/child-safe-standards/the-11-child-safe-standards/

Here is the Catholic Education Council of Victoria's revised statement of commitment to Child Safety which we abide by:
