Juniors

The Junior grades have been working hard to develop their typing skills using their laptops. They have been using a fantastic program called Dance Mat Typing, which begins by teaching the home keys before introducing new letters at each level. The students are progressing really well and are already typing words and sentences as their keyboard knowledge grows.

We have also been practising how to log in to our laptops independently, and all students can now do this successfully. Occasionally, we forget to turn off the Caps Lock key and type our passwords in capital letters, but this is happening much less often now!

I am very proud of how hard the students have worked and how confidently they are learning to use their laptops.

Seniors

This term, the Senior grades have been learning how to make better use of their school Google accounts. They have created folders in Google Drive to keep their documents and files organised, formatted their work in Google Docs, and learnt how to position images without disrupting the layout of their work.

The students have also created posters and presentations using Google Slides and are currently presenting their slideshows to the class. Our focus has been on using slides as prompts to support their speaking, rather than as a document for the audience to read.

The students have done a fantastic job and have participated in thoughtful discussions about the strengths of each presentation and areas for improvement.
