Principal's Report

It has been another busy and productive few weeks at Millwarra, with plenty happening across both campuses. As we head towards the end of Term 3, there is still lots to look forward to, with camp, transition activities and plenty of learning continuing across the school.

Teaching and Learning

Our focus on consistent, high-quality teaching and learning continues across both campuses. Staff are working collaboratively to ensure students have access to engaging, evidence-based learning programs and consistent approaches across the school.

Our Junior students continue to build strong foundations in literacy through the Little Learners Love Literacy program, while our whole-school approach to spelling supports the systematic development of spelling knowledge and skills.

In Mathematics, Top 10 Maths continues to be implemented across the school, providing students with regular opportunities to develop their number sense, fluency and confidence. These consistent whole-school approaches help ensure clear progression in learning as students move through the year levels.

Senior Camp – Sovereign Hill

There is plenty of excitement building as our Senior students head off to Sovereign Hill on Monday for their three-day camp.

The camp provides a fantastic opportunity to bring classroom learning to life, linking directly with the students’ Inquiry learning. Students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the history they have been exploring at school, while also developing independence, resilience, teamwork and confidence.

We are looking forward to a wonderful few days away and creating some fantastic memories together.

2027 Prep Transition

We are very excited to begin our 2027 Prep Transition Program, with our first Kinder Gym session next Friday.

Transition is such an important part of helping our future students become familiar and comfortable with their new school environment, staff and peers before beginning Prep.

We look forward to welcoming our 2027 Preps and their families to Millwarra.

2027 Prep Transition Dates:

  • Friday, 11 September – All together at Millgrove – Kinder Gym, 11:00am–11:30am
  • Friday, 9 October – Session 1: Play to Learn
  • Wednesday, 28 October – Session 2: PE
  • Monday, 16 November – Session 3: Art
  • Tuesday, 6 December – State-wide Transition

Further information about each session will be provided to our 2027 Prep families closer to the dates.

Footy Colours Day

We will be celebrating Footy Colours Day on the last day of Term 3, with all students coming together at our Millgrove Campus for the day. Students are encouraged to dress in their favourite team colours and help us raise funds for the Fight Cancer Foundation. Families can support the day by making a donation through our Millwarra Primary School Footy Colours Day fundraising page. Further details about the day will be shared via Compass soon.

Father’s Day

I would like to wish all of our wonderful fathers, grandfathers, uncles and other special people in our students’ lives a very Happy Father’s Day for Sunday.

I hope you have a fantastic day and enjoy the special gifts our students have been busy creating for you. Thank you for everything you do to support our students and our school community.

School Tours

We continue to welcome enrolment enquiries from families considering their schooling options. Tours of both campuses are available throughout the year and are a great opportunity to see our school in action, learn more about our programs and meet our wonderful staff.

If you know of a family who may be interested in joining the Millwarra community, please encourage them to contact the school office to arrange a tour.
