End of Term 3:
Mathematics
For term 3, the South Oakleigh college Maths department has been hard at work developing content and lessons for our students to be engaged in the marvellous world of Mathematics.
From the relationships of linear and quadratic algebra to trigonometry, our students have been exposed to some of maths higher order concepts, and I’m proud to say they have taken to it with aplomb.
This term has also marked the 1st instance of South Oakleigh College taking part in the Australian Maths Olympiad, a truly rigorous and demanding mathematical competition for students across the nation. 3 brave students took part in training sessions before completing the challenge on Thursday the 11th of September, and I could not be prouder of the efforts they put in to completing a 4-hour challenge of mathematics!
With many more opportunities and topics left to go in the year, I hope you are able to look forward to what else the Mathematics department has to offer.
