Room 1 Years 3 -6
Welcome back to Term 3! It’s been great to have everyone back and settled into the classroom. We’ve had a really positive start to the term, with students coming in ready to learn and showing great focus during lessons.
A big focus for us has continued to be positive behaviour and making good choices in the classroom. This has really helped create a calm learning environment where students can stay on task, get involved and make the most of their learning time.
Writing ✏️
A big focus for us this term has been handwriting. We’ve made handwriting part of our daily routine, taking the time to slow down, form our letters correctly and take pride in the way we present our work.
Handwriting is such an important skill and is something we use across all areas of our learning. Being able to write clearly helps us get our ideas onto the page and, most importantly, allows others to read and understand what we want to say.
I have been so proud of the progress I’ve already seen in such a short amount of time! The students are really taking on feedback and putting in the effort each day. It has been great to see their confidence grow and the pride they are beginning to take in their work
Inquiry 🔎
A big thank you to everyone who has brought in items for our Evolution Table! The students have absolutely loved looking at the different pieces of technology and seeing just how much things have changed over time.
It has been great to see their curiosity take over, with many students choosing to investigate the table during recess and lunch. They have been so intrigued by what different items were used for, how they worked and why they have changed.
These items have also helped bring our Inquiry learning to life as we create timelines of technology and explore how inventions have evolved over time to better meet human needs. There have been lots of great questions, conversations and discoveries along the way!
Dominoes 🌟
Our students have been working so hard to earn Dominoes around the school by showing our school values, making positive choices and being great role models.
It’s been fantastic to see how motivated everyone is, and there’s always plenty of excitement when another Domino is added to their tubs! With all the great behaviour we’ve been seeing, we’ve had many overflowing tubs by the end of the week.
Gratitude Journals 💛
We have reintroduced our Gratitude Journals this term and they have been a lovely addition to our daily routine. We take a few minutes to stop and think about something we are grateful for or something positive that has happened in our day.
There is good research behind practising gratitude too. Regularly noticing and reflecting on the good things in our lives can help young people develop a more positive outlook and support their overall wellbeing. It also helps train our brains to notice the positives that can sometimes be easy to overlook.
It’s only a small part of our day, but a really nice way to slow down, reflect and remind ourselves of the good things happening around us.
Lions Public Speaking 🦁🎤
Our students have been busy preparing for this year’s Lions Public Speaking Competition! They have been working really hard on their speeches and practising their delivery, and we’re very proud of the effort they have put in.

The competition will be held on 26th August at the Heyfield Bowling Club, with the time still to be confirmed.
It takes a lot of courage to get up and speak in front of an audience, so it would be fantastic to see plenty of familiar faces there supporting and cheering on our students. Definitely come along if you can!
