Advent

The Year 11 Avila girls came to Holy Family to work with our grade 6s, following up after they made their Confirmation as well as teaching them about Advent. They were wonderful experiences for the Year 6 students.

Here are some reflections from 6F:

I really enjoyed our Advent session with the Avila girls. They were super nice and I even made a friend out of one of them! For the past two sessions I have learnt a lot. - Lauren.

Today we did activities with the Avila girls. They were really nice and they taught us what was Advent and how to get ready! - Renee

I found that the session about Advent really helped me understand how, by doing one little act of kindness, it can make a big difference in someone else’s life. The act of giving is one of the biggest acts of kindness you can do. - Georgia.

I found, when Avila came, it was really fun playing the games and doing the activity. Overall, I really enjoyed doing the activities. - Dhinara

I liked being with the Avila girls and doing the advent worksheets because it was very fun and educational. - Sheryl.

The girls were friendly and approachable during the excursion. They taught us to do charitable acts and why it is so important, not just during Christmas and Advent, but all year round. We created our own Advent calendar, being tasked with doing acts of kindness per day. Overall, it was a really enjoyable experience and I want to experience it again because the girls made it really fun. - Nyagao.

I learnt a lot about charity when talking to my friends and I really appreciate all the effort the Avila girls went to. - Xavier G

It was really nice for the Avila girls to come to our classrooms. It looked like they put a lot of time and effort into the lesson. They put in games, memes and other things which really made it fun for us. They asked us lots of questions and really listened and cared about our answers. All in all, it was a really fun time. - Xavier N.

Today Religion was really fun when the Avila girls came and we played ‘Would you Rather’ and they were really nice. - Winston.

Having the Avila girls here was enjoyable. We got to do fun activities and learn about advent. - Micah.
