School Council Report
December School Council Report
We received great news at our final meeting for 2024. FPS has been awarded our 2nd star in the Waste module of ResourceSmart Schools. This recognises many years of sustained effort by members of the Environmental Sustainability Working Group (ESWG) and the FPS Sustainability Coordinator – Amelia Trompf, and celebrates a great achievement for the environmental and financial sustainability of the school.
With planning for 2025 fundraising underway, we considered feedback from the recent ART FOR ALL/Fair survey, and approved the School’s major fundraising event of the year. Stay tuned for the announcement of the event's date.
Thank you to everyone who responded to the survey. Planning for this event will kick-off in term one, so keep an eye out for opportunities to volunteer – early and often!
Speaking of volunteering, School Council held a morning tea on a lovely sunny morning a few weeks ago to celebrate and thank all the parent volunteers from fundraising events throughout the year. Thanks to TeamKids for generously providing the coffee cart and delicious food!
The great tradition of rain at the picnic continued last Friday! Special thanks to DJ Paul Agius; lots of fun singing and dancing in the rain! Fingers crossed for some blue sky and sun for the Welcome Picnic in February!
Also in February, we’ll be calling for nominations for new School Councillors. It’s a great way to contribute to the school, to learn more about how the school ticks, and to get know other parents and teachers! Please consider putting your hand up, and please chat to me or any of the other councillors if you are keen and would like to know more.
Thanks to all of the current School Councillors – parents and teachers – and Paul and Nicole for all your time and dedication to the work of School Council and the various Committees.
And on behalf of School Council I would like to thank all of the FPS community for another great year. It has been super busy for children, families, teachers and staff and we wish you a safe and happy holiday as we look forward to 2025!
