ART FOR ALL Feedback

ART FOR ALL 2024 – Event Feedback

Many thanks again to everyone who submitted feedback to the ART FOR ALL survey.

We collected 71 responses, which means roughly 15-20 percent of FPS families had their say. The answers were considered, kind and constructive, and they are already helping us reflect on how to approach planning for next year’s event.

The survey was simply an open-ended question, inviting general feedback, but the answers covered a good range of key topics.

This was the first time ART FOR ALL went ahead after merging with the FPS Fair, and overall, it was considered a positive outcome, particularly for the children.

It was great to hear families enjoyed participating together in the ArtZone and the community art project. While some respondents felt the rides detracted from those activities, others felt they gave something for everyone across different age groups in their family and added to the general excitement of the day.

The inclusion of an entertainment stage under the fig tree was a popular new element, which along with rides was brought across from the Fair. However, some felt the music selection could have been more kid focussed.

The Gallery was praised for its art range and presentation, however some respondents mentioned they thought the prices on some works were a bit high. The Gallery Shop also got rave reviews, but respondents noted that it is a lot of hard work for volunteers to run.

Many felt the event timing in the school calendar was too close to other school and community events, which may have impacted attendance and volunteer numbers.

The sustainability measures, which are in line with the school's key goals, were much appreciated.

A lot of the constructive feedback related to food and drink, general organisation and the event schedule – some respondents felt the event could start later and/ or go a bit longer. We acknowledge that the food lines got long and some food ran out early – like at the cake stall. There have also been suggestions to have a bar selling beer and wine.

Looking Forward

Improving ART FOR ALL, bringing in new elements or even ensuring the smooth running of the event as it currently exists comes down to one thing – how much time do FPS parents feel they can contribute to help make it all happen? It takes a large and committed team of volunteers to share the load, because of course many hands make light work, but also so that everyone gets to spend more of their time enjoying the event with their families, too.

To that end, we will be holding an ART FOR ALL planning and volunteering meeting in early term 1 of 2025. We encourage anyone with further feedback or ideas to come along and find out more about how the event originated, why it is so important to the school and local community, and how it is run. The current committee chair is leaving at the end of this year, and so this position will be open.

Expressions of interest for activities, roles and responsibilities will close later in term one, so that planning and organisation can start with enough time to deliver a fantastic ART FOR ALL later in the year.

Once again – thank you for taking the time to respond. We look forward to seeing you all in 2025.
