Bonjour!
Foundation Students
This term, students started with numbers. They revised counting and learned numbers up to 15 in French. They also revised colours and learned new ones. They had fun playing “the coloured path” and learning the song “Couleurs, Couleurs”. The students also learned the name of some stationery items, and practised understanding some craft instructions so they could make a celebration card in the last week of school.
Grade 1 Students
Students revised counting and practised how to write numbers in French. They learned and illustrated a song about colours. Grade one enjoyed watching the adventures of a cartoon character called “Barbapapa” in French, figuring out what was happening. They memorised the name of stationery items and learned simple instructions to work out how to make their celebration card.
Grade 2 Students
Grade 2 practised numbers up to 20. They followed instructions in French to make a chatterbox combining numbers and colours. Then they learned simple sentences to play the game in French only! Grade 2 students also learned the name of stationery items and simple craft instructions to make their celebration card.
Grade 3 Students
Students revised their numbers to 20. They practised identifying numbers randomly in French. They revised colours and learned the name of a few stationery items. They made their own posters, drawing and labelling eight items of their choice. They memorised simple craft instructions to make a celebration card.
Grade 4 Students
Students practised counting up to 30 in French. They revised colours and learned the name of stationery items. They created their personal memory game following instructions in French and tested their games with other classmates. They followed a sequence of simple instructions to make a celebration card.
Grade 5 Students
Grade 5 revised numbers. They also revised the name of some sports, and learnt how to express their preferences, likes and dislikes in sport. They also created questions and answers in French about their sporting preferences. The students also practised using a bilingual dictionary, translating all the stationery items they would need to make a celebration card.
Grade 6 Students
Students revised a range of greetings, and joined in singing a song called “Bonjour, Salut”. They used their previous knowledge of sport to watch a video in French and noted down people’s favourite sport. They learned how to express preferences, likes and dislikes and used this vocabulary to build extended sentences related to sport. They practised using a bilingual dictionary so they could translate instructions to create a celebration card.
