CAPA FACULTY

Year 11 and Year 12 Visual Arts
Year 11 and 12 Visual Arts students recently visited ArtExpress at the Art Gallery of NSW, an inspiring exhibition showcasing some of the best HSC Bodies of Work from 2025 (including our own Alumni Alyssa Malcolm).
Year 11 also engaged closely as audience with work by the renowned sculptor Ron Mueck in his current exhibition Encounter. These large scale sculptures had students entranced by their realism.
To round off an excellent day of art, students explored Mike Hewson's interactive exhibition The Key's Under the Mat. This exhibition encouraged students to build confidence, interact with others and their surroundings and extend their understanding of artistic practice.
Year 11 Photography Excursion
Today our students stepped into history at Cockatoo Island (Wareamah) — a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site right in the heart of Sydney Harbour. From its rich layers of Indigenous, convict, and maritime history, the island became the perfect backdrop for creativity and exploration.
Armed with DSLR cameras, students began developing their professional photography skills, learning to frame, capture light, and tell stories through their lenses. From navigating hidden tunnels and carefully exploring abandoned warehouses, to taking in the breathtaking panoramic views of Sydney Harbour — every corner offered a new perspective.
We can’t wait to share the incredible shots captured throughout the day… stay tuned!
