Jim Anderson Scholarship

The Jim Anderson Scholarship is awarded to recognise outstanding academic achievement and leadership by students within the NSW public education system. It aims to support students who demonstrate excellence in their studies and contribute positively to their school and community, helping them pursue further educational opportunities or personal development.

Tayla (Class of 2025) is being recognised today by the Mayor of Blacktown Brad Bunting and Kathleen Anderson and will receive monetary support which can be used towards further education.

We are so proud of her achievements and her contribution to the culture of our school.

Mobile Phones

The Department of Education has a banket ban on the use of mobile phones in schools. This applies to mobile phones, linked watches and airpods and occurs during all school hours, including break times such as during lunch and recess, as well as while students are on school-based excursions.

Students are still able to carry their phones while travelling to and from school.

School staff can allow students to use their mobile phones in specific circumstances, such as for an educational purpose, for their wellbeing or to support students with specific needs.

If a student decides to use their phone or associated device on the school campus during the school day, it will be confiscated immediately, stored securely in the front office and returned to the student at the end of the day.

We have had a spike in mobile phone use recently and need to strongly reinforce compliance with this rule to support quality learning environments across the College.

PULSE

The Department of Education PULSE Concert is an annual showcase celebrating the performing arts talents of students from NSW public schools. It features performances by ensembles, soloists, and choirs, offering students the opportunity to perform on a professional stage and share their achievements with the wider community.

Congratulations to the Wyndham Dancers who performed expertly last week. Your performances in the massed dance items were visually spectacular. I was so proud to see your skills on show.

This event highlights the strength and diversity of performing arts education within NSW public schools.

Food Deliveries to School – Important Reminder

At Wyndham College, we are proud to offer students excellent on-site food options through our school canteen and Tradewynds Café. Tradewynds is far more than a typical school café, providing high-quality, hospitality-based learning experiences alongside a variety of fresh and affordable food choices for students.

We would like to remind families that students are not permitted to order food delivery services (such as Uber Eats) to the school.

There are several important reasons for this:

  • Student safety: Delivery drivers entering the school grounds create unnecessary safety and supervision risks.
  • Disruption to learning: Coordinating and collecting deliveries interrupts lessons and takes students away from class time.
  • School security: We must maintain clear processes for visitors on site, and external deliveries make this difficult to manage.
  • Equity and wellbeing: External food deliveries can create inequity among students and are not aligned with our inclusive school environment.
  • Supporting our school community: Our canteen and Tradewynds Café are designed to meet student needs while supporting school programs and learning opportunities.

We ask for your support in reinforcing this expectation with your child. Students should bring their own food or purchase from the canteen or Tradewynds Café during the school day.

Thank you for helping us maintain a safe, inclusive, and focused learning environment.
