ATHLETICS DAY

Lots of good spirited competition with our athletics day earlier this week. Well done to everyone for giving their best go and for cheering the success of others.

Thanks to all parent helpers that gave up their time on a pretty cold day at Newham!

PE Term 3

For the start of term 3, students have been preparing for Athletics, learning and practicing track and field events such as sprinting, shotput and discus. Their skills and effort were evident on our Athletics day, with some students qualifying for Cobaw District Athletics in Bendigo.

For the remainder of term 3, we are aiming to have a 'Coach-led Ulti-mates Frisbee Program' from which students will develop

Physical literacy and social-emotional learning through Spirit of the Game - inclusive participation ... essential social-emotional skills, fair play, and conflict resolution. This program is designed for all abilities, ensuring every student – regardless of physicality – finds success on the field from day one.

Following on from frisbee, the students will be learning and participating in orienteering.

ART TERM 3

For term 3, Art will focus on the elements of design: line, shape, form, colour, texture, movement, and negative and positive space. They will develop skills using a range of media such as acrylic paint, liquid watercolours, greylead pencil, paint pens and chalk pastel.

Topics will align with the Integrated Curriculum each class is covering, such as lifecycles of plants and butterflies, properties of materials (oil and water), ecology and food chains, and light and energy sources. 

Families are always welcome to join us in the art room. Class times are: F/1 11:40am - 12:40pm, 1/2/3 12:50pm - 1:50pm and 4/5/6 2:30pm - 3:30pm.
