Gold Fever Hits ACPS

Our Grade 5 and 6 students recently embarked on an exciting journey back in time, bringing the thrilling era of the Victorian Gold Rush to life right here at school! As part of their history unit, students have been delving deep into the fascinating stories of the 1850s, exploring everything from the harsh living conditions on the goldfields to the intense excitement of "Gold Fever" and the diverse communities that sprang up.

To truly immerse themselves in this pivotal period of Australian history, our young historians transformed into authentic gold diggers for a day! Dressed in their finest (and often muddiest!) gold rush attire, complete with hats, scarves, and makeshift tools, the students staged their very own gold rush.

The school grounds became a bustling goldfield, filled with the sounds of eager digging and hopeful chatter. Just like the real diggers of the 1850s, some of our students experienced the incredible thrill of striking it rich! Cheers erupted as Nuggets were unearthed, leading to joyous celebrations and dreams of instant fortune.

However, the experience also highlighted the challenging realities of the goldfields. Many students, embodying the spirit of the desperate diggers, worked tirelessly, their faces reflecting the determination and sometimes the frustration of those who toiled for hours without success. The quest for that elusive gold  was real, and it gave students a powerful insight into the perseverance required and the disappointments many faced.

The Gold Unit will continue into next term. Be on the look out for corrupt government officials, bushrangers, food and license checks!

Girls Football Day

The Grade 5 and 6 girls  achieved a remarkable feat by clinching the premiership title at the Manningham District AFL Day. Their journey to victory was marked by unwavering determination, exceptional teamwork, and an infectious spirit that resonated both on and off the field. Throughout the round-robin stage, the team showcased their prowess by securing convincing wins in all matches. The girls were worthy Premiers and will play the winner of the Knox District in Term 3.

Well done team!
