End of Term 2
What a busy Term 2 it has been! As we near the end of Term 2, we want to take a moment to express our thanks for your continued support and involvement in our school community. It’s been a busy and productive term filled with learning, growth, and memorable experiences in Grade 1 and 2. From musical performances, sporting events to creative projects, celebrating STEM days and community initiatives, our students have shown dedication, resilience, and a genuine enthusiasm for learning. We are incredibly proud of their efforts!
We hope that you all manage to have a peaceful break with quality family time over the school holidays. We look forward to seeing you all again in Term 3.......refreshed and recharged.
Students have continued to practise their learnt reading comprehension strategies as we near the end of term, and have enjoyed predicting, questioning, visualising and making connections when reading. The have also been summarising and learning new vocabulary words which they have been encouraged to use in their writing.
As we near the end of term, students have been writing their end of term reflections and thinking back on all of the wonderful things they have done and learned at school this term.
Grade 1's & 2's have been enjoying learning about calendars and clocks over the past 2 weeks. Grade 2's have also continued their money unit, earning money in the classroom and spending it weekly. It has been interesting to see them make the hard decisions of whether to spend their money or save it as well as how much they can raise if they all contribute towards a savings goal. We hope that students can continue this learning with hands on activities at home, using money, telling the time on analogue clocks and keeping track of special dates on their little calendars that they brought home from class.
Our Grade 1 students have also been enthusiastically revising patterns using numbers(skip counting), mixed materials, and musical beats. They used their creative minds and composed their own music patterns and performed their pieces using rhythm sticks and shakers. In addition, they revisited addition and subtraction strategies through a variety of engaging activities designed to strengthen their understanding of these fundamental concepts.
Grade 1 Clocks
Students have continued their "My Place" inquiry unit and have been focussing on weather. Grade 2's have practised being meterologists, recording the weather each day in a weather diary and keeping a track of the temperature and making daily observations about the weather. They have also discussed Aboriginal seasonal knowledge and its connection to weather.
Our Grade 1 students have been exploring the concept of emotional balance. They've learned to identify the warm, joyful feelings that come from being in-balance, and have shared the people, activities, and experiences that bring them joy. A key focus has been building body awareness—noticing the signals our bodies give us when we are feeling in or out of balance. Students are learning to recognize these moments and reflect on what helps them regain balance. One highlight of our exploration has been the topic of laughter. The children discovered that laughter is one of their superpowers! They found that laughing makes them feel good, helps them relax, and recharges their energy—supporting their emotional wellbeing in a powerful way.
This joyful journey continues to help our young learners build strong emotional foundations and positive coping strategies.
