Arts - an exciting new year

by Mr James Taylor, Arts Domain Leader

In recent years here at Box Hill High School, we have been looking for ways to improve student voice. The Arts Domain are all for giving opportunities for students to take the lead. As we have done in past years, the Arts teachers put on a morning tea to celebrate our 2026 Arts leaders.

This included students who have an official Arts role such as Arts Prefect, Visual Art Captain and Music Captain. We also invited other Year 12 student leaders who have made a significant contribution to the arts at BHHS, such as being in the school production. As I said to them, we Arts teachers are equally proud of them.

This year we also welcome Ms Cally Robinson, who joins the Visual Arts team in the role of Art Technician. Cally is known to the Box Hill High School community in her role as an amazing Drama teacher. The Visual Arts teachers are really excited to have Cally support them.

There are a lot of moving parts in teaching Art, including materials, resources, labelling, maintaining… and having another pair of hands available will make so much difference. So, welcome aboard, Cally!

I also want to express my thanks to the PCO for making the position of Art Technician available.
