MIDDLE YEARS NOTICES

Information for parents and carers - Morrisby Profiling and Year 10 Work Experience

An exciting time coming up in planning for future pathways for our students in Years 9 and 10.

Morrisby Profiling kicks off Week 10, 30/3. A Morrisby Profile is conducted with our Year 9 cohort, which is a comprehensive psychometric assessment tool designed to help secondary students make informed decisions about their education and career paths. The profile assesses students across multiple dimensions including their abilities (verbal, numerical, abstract reasoning), interests, and motivational factors. It looks at how students think and work, not just what they know, giving insight into their natural aptitudes and preferences. The profile can be particularly helpful for students who are unsure about their direction, as it provides a structured starting point for career exploration. A consent form will be making its way home very soon, please action and return promptly.

Year 10 Work Experience is in Week 4 of Term 2, 11th – 15th of May, 2026. The Red Cliffs Secondary College Work Experience programs offer significant benefits for secondary students as they navigate their educational and career pathways. Work Experience gives students firsthand exposure to different industries and roles, helping them test out career interests in real-world settings rather than relying solely on descriptions or assumptions.

To our families, please start having that discussion around areas of interest and work placements that your child wishes to pursue. Work together to start connecting with workplaces and securing a placement.

Follow this link; https://workplacements.education.vic.gov.au/ to discover opportunities that are currently available in our area for Work Experience students.

To our students, a 10 YLA will be held on Thursday 12th to provide you all further information regarding the Work Experience program and your responsibilities.

We are asking for work placement indications to be provided during Parent Teacher Conferences on Monday, 23rd March, 2026. Bookings with Linda Snoxall – Careers and Pathways Advisor will be available on that day.
