EHS Debating
Our Year 9 Interschool Debating team had their first debate on Monday night at Loyola College. Madeleine Walker (Toner House), Avery Russon (Skipper House) and Elliot Lowdin (Everard House) took the affirmative position on the topic - that the government should prohibit businesses from being cashless.
The debate was well chaired by Lachlan Evans (Skipper House).
It was fantastic to see strong support from families in the audience.
In the lead up to the debate, the team worked hard to prepare their presentations, communicating both face-to-face and online to ensure that they had their arguments ready.
On the night, there were definitely some nerves and the result didn't go our way however, what was clear is that there is a strong team in the making!
We look forward to our next debate on March 25th where we will be the negative team debating the topic: That phone use should be taught as a learning tool in schools.
