2025 EHS House Swimming Carnival
The whole school headed to Aquarena, Doncaster on Friday 21 February for the 2025 House Swimming Carnival. House sprit was well and truly alive this year with one of our biggest year 12 dress ups competition in years! We had all sorts of costumes from the Wiggles, Sesame Street and Shrek to Finding Nemo, Despicable Me and Mean Girls. The senior students definitely led by example and showed what house spirit is all about. With house points up for grabs not only in the pool but in novelty events, everybody had the opportunity to compete for their house.
In the pool, the swimming was hotly contested, with many stand out individual performances throughout the day. Sam Hartley (Year 10, Everard House) picked up where he left off last year, dominating his age group with six 1st place ribbons. Archie Bonga (Year 10, Skipper House) had a day out with 4 wins and a second. Annabelle Lowe (Year 9, Everard House) and Ben Van Dijk (Year 9, Skipper House) won every race they competed in, Ebony Bire (Year 12, Pakana House) and Jessica Nicholls (Year 12, Everard House) went toe to toe in every senior girls race and Maddie Collier (Year 11, Everard House) won back to back age champion awards. It was also great to see the future of EHS swimming with MJ Morrison (Year 7, Everard House), Levi Agar (Year 7, Toner House) and Archer Weston (Year 7, Pakana House) taking out the age champion award for the 12-13 age group and Alison Carter (Year 9, Everard House) and Ben Nicholls (Year 8, Everard House) winning the 14 year old age champions.
Shout out to our teachers relay team of Mr Stubbings, Mr Nicassio, Ms Gannon and Ms Leather who took on the seniors in the relay at the end of the day. It’s great to the see the rivalry is still alive between the staff and the students.
Students who won their events have been invited to represent Eltham High School at the upcoming Nillumbik/Banyule District Swimming Sports which will be held on Friday March 7.
At the end of the day, after over 70 races, EVAERAD House took out back-to-back victories ending 324 points in front of their nearest rival.
Final House points were as follows:
1st place: EVERARD 693
2nd place: TONER 369
3rd place: SKIPPER 331
4th place: PAKANA 321
Also a big congratulations to the following age champions:
12-13 Girls – MJ Morrison
12-13 Boys – Levi Agar and Archer Weston
14 Girls – Allison Carter
14 Boys – Ben Nicholls
Eltham High School Sports Program
Eltham High School has a very successful Sports Program with plenty of opportunities for students to get involved throughout the year.
House Sport Carnivals
Eltham High School holds two House Sport Carnivals during Term 1. The Swimming Carnival took place at Aquarena, Doncaster on Friday 21 February and the Athletics Carnival is on Thursday 13 March at the Doncaster Athletics Track. Both days are considered normal school days and, as such, it is expected that all students attend. There is a strong history at Eltham High of students dressing up in House Colours and a ‘Best Dressed’ competition is held at each event. Participation is not compulsory, and students can enter as many or as few events as they wish. The results are used to select the students who advance to the District Sports.
House Cross Country
In Term 2 we will hold our school cross country (Date TBC). This will be compulsory for ALL Year 7 and 8 students and optional for Year 9 - 12 students. Generally, the Year 7’s completes the run during their sport period and Year 8’s are brought out of class to complete theirs. The course starts across from the school at Fabro Fields and goes around the Wingrove Park loop.
Interschool Sport
Eltham High participates in the ‘School Sport Victoria’ sporting program. We enter teams into a Round Robin competition with local schools in the Nillumbik District. Each year level of the school can participate in one Round Robin each term. Different sports are offered in each term and successful teams advance to Region Finals and then State Finals.
The cost for each event per student is $20 in 2025. There are various costs in running the sporting program throughout the school and these include district, regional and state level events. The $20 per event per student is to cover the cost of the program and events and is not limited to the bus/transportation cost alone. However, please note that bus costs are a fixed cost for the event and are not reduced for the school if a student chooses not to take the bus. Eltham High School has kept the cost for the sporting program and these events the same now for four years and is supporting the program as costs have increased. Please note that if a student is taking the bus to the event and is driven by a family member the event cost of $20 is still applicable.

Students in Year 7 and 8 participate in a Sport session once per week. Students participate in a range of sports throughout the term. We aim to provide students with a small taste of a variety of sports, many of which are offered in the Inter-School Sports Program. Participation is the main goal of these sessions and students are encouraged to experience a range of games. There is an expectation the students change into their PE uniforms for this session – we would greatly appreciate your assistance in ensuring PE uniforms are brought to school for both PE and Sport sessions.
