SACE Stage One Outdoor Education Aquatics Camp

On Wednesday, 30 October, our outdoor education class embarked on a three-day aquatics camp to the Yorke Peninsula. The adventure began with knee boarding, sailing, and snorkeling at Port Vincent. After a day full of activities, we headed to Corny Point to cook dinner and set up our tents for the night.

Thursday started early as we made our way to Berry Bay to learn to surf. Upon arrival at the cliff top car park, we were greeted by a large pod of dolphins in the water. By the end of the day, everyone in the group was catching waves and standing up. The stunning sunset at Corny Point Lighthouse was the perfect end to a busy day, and we all slept well after our time in the waves.

Friday began with an early morning pack-up and a final surf session at Berry Bay. This time, a pod of over twenty dolphins joined us in the water, creating an unforgettable experience for everyone.

Throughout the camp, we learned valuable aquatic skills and safety, camp craft, how to live and collaborate positively with each other, and the health benefits of spending time in nature.

Year 10 Aquatics Camp at Murraylands Aquatic Centre

Our year 10 outdoor education class recently embarked on an exciting aquatics camp at the Murraylands Aquatic Centre. The weather was hot, however this did not dampen our spirits. Students eagerly participated in a variety of water activities, including knee boarding, water-skiing, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, sailing, and windsurfing.

These activities not only provided a refreshing escape from the heat they also offered valuable opportunities for skill-building and teamwork.

In addition to the water sports, students demonstrated their outdoor cooking skills using trangias and spent the night camping in tents. This overnight experience fostered a sense of independence and camaraderie among the students, creating lasting memories.

Overall, the camp was a success, blending adventure, learning, and fun. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to connect with nature, challenge themselves, and enjoy the great outdoors.
