Welcome Back to Term 4!

Welcome back, families! We hope you enjoyed a restful break and are ready for a busy and joyful final term of the year. Term 4 is always full of celebration, and this one is no exception.

Golden Grove Lutheran Community Fete: This Sunday 18 October

The big event of the week is the Golden Grove Lutheran Community Fete this Sunday. Now in its eighth consecutive year, the fete is a partnership between our school and Golden Grove Lutheran Church. It has grown into a much-loved day out for families across Adelaide’s north-eastern suburbs, regularly drawing more than 3,000 visitors to our community.

Entry is free, and there are more than 100 stalls and activities to explore. Children can enjoy the rock climbing wall,  jumping castles, the petting zoo, pony rides, face painting and henna tattoos. There will be live music, plenty of food options, and Cafe Connect will be open. The raffle has many prizes to be won, and proceeds support church and school programs.

We are especially looking forward to our school choir performing at the fete. Please come along and cheer them on.

The fete is a wonderful way to welcome our wider community through our doors and share the love of Jesus. We are so grateful to all the staff, church members and families who volunteer their time to make it happen.

P&F Meeting: Monday 19 October (Hybrid)

Our next Parents & Friends meeting is on Monday 19 October at 7.00pm. It will be a hybrid meeting, so you are welcome to join us in person at school or online via Teams.

On the agenda is planning for our Family Picnic and End of Year Fun Day. We are looking for volunteers who can lend a hand with either event.

We are also looking for anyone who may be interested in joining the P&F committee next year. You don’t need experience, just a willingness to be part of our school community! Even if you can only help in a small way, we would love to hear from you.

Swimming Lessons

Next week, our Year 2/3 and 3/4 classes will head to Parafield for swimming lessons. Please ensure your child has their swimming gear and that you have returned the permission note. We hope the students have a splash of a time while building water confidence and safety skills.

Children’s University Graduation: Tuesday 20 October

On Tuesday 20 October, we celebrate the students graduating from the Children’s University programme this year. Notes have been sent home to the families of this year’s awardees.

Thank you to all the students who brought in their passports to finalise their hours. Your commitment to learning beyond the classroom is something to be proud of.

Celebrating Our Students: Congratulations, William!

We are delighted to congratulate William, who has been selected as a district team player for the U14 Norwood Flames team.

This achievement is the result of three years of hard work and trials.

Persistence and determination are qualities we hope to nurture in every student, and William has shown them in abundance. Well done, William. We are proud of you and wish you every success with the Flames!

World Teachers’ Day: Friday 23 October

Next Friday, we celebrate World Teachers’ Day, and we could not let it pass without saying how fortunate we are at Golden Grove Lutheran Primary School. Our teachers show up every day with patience, creativity and care. They celebrate each student’s successes, support them through their struggles, and pray for them. They plan, mark, and adapt, and they go well beyond the classroom, from camps and excursions to choir rehearsals and lunchtime clubs. Most of all, they see each child as a unique gift from God.

To our wonderful teachers, thank you for the difference you make in the lives of our students and families. We encourage families to take a moment next week to thank their child’s teacher, whether through a kind word, a card or a note from your child.

Early Learning Centre Update

Works are progressing on our Early Learning Centre (ELC), with the development application now approved by Tea Tree Gully Council.

As the first stage, 1/2AK have moved into the classroom previously used as the Wellbeing Room from the start of Term 4. The Wellbeing Room has temporarily relocated to the breakout space next to 1/2HB. This allows the classroom behind the current GGOSH space, along with the 1/2AK classroom, to be refitted over the remainder of the year so that GGOSH can relocate early next year. The current GGOSH space can then be refitted for the ELC. At this stage, we are working towards opening the new ELC in mid 2027.

We are grateful for everyone’s flexibility during this transition and look forward to sharing more as the project moves ahead.

Looking Ahead

With so much happening, Term 4 is shaping up to be a great one. We look forward to seeing many of you at the fete on Sunday!
