đș Tongan Language Week (17-23 August) â Uike KÄtoangaâi âo e Lea Faka-Tonga
Â
This is a time to honour the rich culture, traditions, and language of Tonga. The theme this year is about valuing the Tongan language as a treasure to be carried with pride, strengthened within families, and shared within our wider community. Â
Â
The Tongan language, lea faka-Tonga, is one of the most widely spoken Pacific languages in Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia. It is not only a means of communication but also a way of passing down values, customs, and identity.Â
Â
For our college community, it is a chance to recognise and celebrate the contributions of our Tongan students and families. This is an opportunity to not only uplift our Tongan learners but also strengthen the spirit of diversity, inclusion, and unity across our school.
