Principal’s Update – August 2025
Empowering Our Students, Elevating Our Practice
Dear Parents, Carers, and Guardians,
As we enter the final stretch of Term 3, I’m filled with pride and optimism about the momentum we’re building together. This time of year, is rich with opportunity — a chance to celebrate progress, embrace new learning experiences, and continue shaping a future where every student can thrive.
In this update, I’m delighted to share a range of exciting initiatives and important reminders that reflect our shared commitment to excellence, equity, and community connection at Kurunjang Secondary College.
Parent / Carer / Guardian Opinion Survey – Have Your Say
A reminder to all selected families to please complete the Parent / Carer / Guardian Opinion Survey. Your feedback helps us better understand what we’re doing well and where we can improve — ultimately shaping a stronger future for every student at Kurunjang.
It only takes 20 minutes, is completely anonymous, and is available in multiple languages. Survey details have been emailed, posted to Compass, and mailed directly to selected families.
Thank you to all those who have already completed it — your voice matters.
Ready to Learn Room – Supporting Every Student, Every Lesson
We believe that every student has the right to a distraction-free education. Every minute of every lesson matters — and when classrooms are calm, respectful, and focused, all students benefit. Education opens doors, creates opportunities, and builds the future. That’s why we place such high importance on supporting students to be ready, respectful, and responsible in every learning environment.
At Kurunjang Secondary College, we are committed to ensuring every student is supported to be ‘Ready to Learn’ every day, in every lesson.
Our Ready to Learn Room (RtLR) plays a vital role in reinforcing our high expectations for learning, behaviour, and responsibility. It provides:
- A safe and respectful space for students to reflect, reset, and re-enter the classroom positively
- Targeted support to help students re-engage with their learning
- Consistent structures and routines aligned to our whole-school expectations
We know that learning can only happen when students are present, focused, and ready. We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these expectations at home and helping us create a calm, purposeful environment across the college. I want to thank Ms. Kelsey Ryan, Assistant Principal for steering this initiative alongside other leaders, and all the staff who have worked hard to ensure the Ready to Learn Room is a purposeful and supportive space that reinforces our whole-school expectations and helps students return to learning with clarity and focus.
Parent-Teacher Conferences – Monday 15 September 2025
Our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday 15 September — a fantastic opportunity to partner with teachers in celebrating student progress and planning next steps for success.

Bookings are open now via Compass. Please don’t miss this chance to connect with your child’s learning team and reinforce the shared commitment we hold to every learner’s growth.
STEM Career Exploration – 2025 Program for First Nations Students
We’re proud to support an inspiring STEM careers event in 2025, designed specifically for Year 11 and 12 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
Participants will engage in:

This is a powerful opportunity for students to discover pathways into high-demand industries and envision exciting futures. Ms. Taylor, Careers Practioner, has already promoted this on Compass so please look for it and if you need more information, please contact Ms. Taylor.
