Room 1 Years 3 -6

On Tuesday the 5th of August, the whole school travelled to Bundalaguah Primary School to watch The Alpha Show of Sleeping Beauty. Students loved the lively performance and the chance to explore important 21st century values through a remake of a well-known fairy tale. The children were thrilled by characters such as Andy the jester, Jamie the confident prince, the energetic King, and the funny trolls Veg and Mite. The show also challenged stereotypes, with Rose the princess portrayed as smart and strong, not a typical damsel in distress. This memorable event was an unique and inspiring experience for all, and we’re grateful to have been invited.
The Alpha Show was timed well as we are moving into the next topic in the Respectful Relationships program, which touches on gender stereotypes. In this topic, students explore how gender norms influence attitudes, opportunities, and behaviours. They learn about gender equality, inclusion, and human rights, emphasising the importance of respectful gender relationships.
Key activities include:
- Investigating the impact of gender norms on personal and social development.
- Discussing the role of media messages, gender policing, and peer pressure in shaping perceptions.
- Understanding the significance of human rights and equity in promoting gender equality.
- Recognising the positive and negative uses of power and privilege in gender dynamics.
- Addressing issues of difference and discrimination to foster an inclusive environment.
This topic aims to empower students to challenge stereotypes and build a foundation for respectful and equitable relationships.

Get Ready for Book Week 2025!
Book Week begins on August 16th until the 23rd, and we can’t wait to celebrate all things reading! During the week, students will enjoy fun activities and best of all—a Book Parade where everyone can dress up as their favourite book character. It’s a great way to spark imagination, share stories, and have a blast with books. Make sure to join in the fun and encourage your kids to pick up a new favourite read during the week! We are happy to share books from our library to make this happen, just ask our staff!
