Hello families,
As mentioned in the last newsletter, Chanae is taking some well-deserved long service leave to spend time with her family on a cruise. We wish her the best time and look forward to hearing all the stories upon her return! With this being said, I am very grateful to be given the opportunity to be Acting Principal while she is away. Although this very unfamiliar territory which excites me (but also scares me,) I am up for the challenge and I hope I can serve the school the best I can in this position.
Due to this shift, Libby, Robyn, Susan and Miss. Marg have generously given up their time to support the teaching across both rooms. Students' needs are at the forefront of what we do and logistic decisions are always made by considering these first, so I thank all our staff members for allowing our day to day routines to be as smooth as possible during this time.
Gumboot-a-thon
A HUGE shout out to all the families involved in last week's Gumboot-a-thon. Firstly, we are so grateful for the donations made on your behalf, it was very touching to see these. It really shows that our community will go above and beyond to help those in need. We had many parent volunteers come and help out which allowed teachers to participate in the walk too. It was great to see different generations within the one family walk together for a good cause. That is something really special about Cowwarr- it doesn't matter how old or young you are, whether you've been at the school for 5 weeks or 5 years- you are always apart of our TEAM.
School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support
This fortnight, staff will be discussing our School- Wide Positive Behaviour matrix in our professional learning communities. School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) is a whole-school approach that helps create a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment by clearly teaching and encouraging positive behaviour. Schools set a small number of clear, positive rules and show students exactly what those behaviours look like in different settings, and recognise them when they follow them. All staff use the same language and responses, so expectations are consistent. This helps students feel secure, know what’s expected, and focus on learning. We will be analysing our current matrix to ensure that it continues to reflect the positive behaviour we expect from students.
