Performing Arts

Hi Everyone! 

It’s been an exciting month in Performing Arts with all classes learning different dance styles and skills!

Foundation

Foundation students linked to their science topic from last term by doing a Push and Pull partner dance. They also explored the movements of different insects in their Millipede Dance and learnt how to move in unison with their group and the whole class!

Year One and Two

Year One and Two students took turns being the choreographer of their group each week. They were teaching their dance maps to their dancers and then enjoyed watching their creations from the audience. This week, we’ve been exploring choreographing for ‘Matilda - the Musical’ and created some exciting class choreographies!

Year Three and Four

Year Three and Four students completed their assessment on the Melbourne Shuffle, then moved on to learning Ballet and Aboriginal dance! They have started most lessons identifying the beat of the music first, then moved on to how to dance to the beat. They have also learnt about the history of the different dances and how they have changed over time. 

Year Five and Six

Year Five and Six students have almost completed the choreographies for their flash mobs so keep an eye out for any pop up performances on the playground, soon!

Also, a special congratulations to 4CG and one group from 4CT who performed their Melbourne Shuffle at the Principals' Day Assembly. We were so proud of you!
