Curriculum & Data

"Curriculum should help children make deeper and fuller understanding of their own experience."

—  Lilian Katz

As we reach this critical stretch of the academic year, our senior students are preparing for major milestones. Here are key updates on exams, upcoming transitions, and curriculum developments.

Year 12: Locking in for the Final Stretch

Our Year 12 students have officially wrapped up their HSC Trial examinations, a major hurdle completed. While it is tempting to exhale, now is not the time to lose focus. These final weeks before the HSC exams are the time to lock in, act on trial feedback, and refine study routines. Keep your momentum going; you are so close to the finish line.

Year 11: Preliminary Exams & Transition to Year 12

Year 11 students are currently sitting their Preliminary Examinations. Looking ahead to Term 4 as they transition into their final school year:

  • Students will have the opportunity to discontinue a subject or unit in Term 4 if they wish. Discontinuation will not be processed until all Preliminary exam results are finalised and returned. Holding off ensures decisions are based on a complete academic picture so we can do what is truly best for each student.
  • We will host a dedicated information evening early in Term 4 to guide families through the HSC course requirements and the formal process for dropping a subject.

In Pursuit of Magis

Across all year groups, we encourage our students to embody the spirit of Magis, the continuous strive for the "more", or always aiming for personal excellence. Whether that means asking for help on a tricky concept, re-drafting an essay, or simply managing time better, striving for better step-by-step makes all the difference during exam season.

Assessment Integrity & Generative AI

We are closely monitoring developments from NESA and the NSW Department of Education regarding Generative AI. NSW education authorities are currently determining whether take-home assessment tasks will remain part of HSC internal grading, or if future tasks will move entirely to supervised in-class conditions. We will share official updates as soon as state policy is confirmed.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we guide our students through this busy assessment period.
