Happy Father’s Day

On Friday 4th September, our school community gathered to celebrate Father’s Day Mass as a way to give thanks for the men in our lives who guide, protect, and inspire us. In his Father’s Day message, Pope Leo reminds us of the sacred role that fathers play in our families and society—a calling to "love without reserve and lead with integrity."

Like Saint Joseph, fathers are called to embrace their role with humility and courage, standing as tender protectors and steady guides through all of life's joys and challenging moments. A strong father figure offers firm guidance without losing warmth, supporting his children, holding them accountable, and waiting with open arms and forgiveness whenever they fall. 

We pray for all our fathers, grandfathers, and mentors. May God grant them the grace to lead their families with wisdom, integrity, and patience, and may Saint Joseph intercede for them as they continue to love without reserve.

World Youth Day 2027 Seoul 

Expressions of interest are open to Year 9 and Year 10 students for World Youth Day 2027 in Seoul.

There are two pilgrimage options:

EastConnect

This Term, EastConnect will be occurring on Sunday 20th September at Marcellin College Randwick from 4pm - 7pm. There will be food, fellowship and games from 4-5:30pm and then we will join the 6pm Parish Mass at OLSH Randwick. It is a special evening bringing together students from across the region for prayer, games, ministry, and community! This is your chance to grow in faith, make new friends, and experience the joy of community in a relaxed and welcoming space.

Year 7, 8 and 9 Evangelisation Day

On Wednesday 12 August, 16 students across Yr 8 & 9 attended the Sydney Catholic Schools Evangelisation Day at Mount St Joseph Catholic College, Milperra.  The theme for the day was “Trust in the Lord for true peace and strength”, and was a fantastic opportunity for students to grow in faith and be inspired through engaging talks, music, activities, prayer, adoration and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Students also had the opportunity to meet students from other schools and make new friends.  Overall, it was a memorable and faith-filled day!

Term 3 Liturgies & Catholic Feast Days

This term offers rich opportunities for whole school prayer, reflection, and family community gatherings:

September 8: Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Significance: The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary celebrates the birth of Mary to Saints Joachim and Anne, marking a pivotal moment in salvation history as the "dawn" preceding the arrival of Jesus Christ. As one of only three earthly birthdays celebrated in the Church's liturgical calendar, this feast underscores Mary's unique role in God's plan.

Why It Matters to Our Students: For students, the day serves as an inspiring model of quiet preparation, reminding them that great callings begin in humble circumstances and develop over time. Celebrated near the start of the academic year, it offers a powerful message of hope, new beginnings, and trust in God's guidance through life's daily efforts. Ultimately, it reassures students that they are supported by a loving mother in faith as they navigate their own educational and personal journeys.

September 14: Exaltation of the Holy Cross

Significance: Exaltation of the Holy Cross (also known as Holy Cross Day or Triumph of the Cross), commemorates Saint Helena's discovery of the True Cross and celebrates Christ's ultimate victory over sin and death. This feast honors the cross not as an instrument of shame, but as a symbol of redemption, hope, and God's boundless love for humanity.

Why it matters to our students: For students, the day offers a powerful lesson in turning everyday struggles and academic burdens into opportunities for personal growth and spiritual strength. It encourages them to lead with courage, practice sacrificial love for their peers, and stand firm in their faith and values. Ultimately, it reassures students that no obstacle or setback is permanent when faced with hope and perseverance.

September 23: St. Pio of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio)

Significance: It honors the beloved Capuchin priest who bore the stigmata and spent his life bringing God's mercy to thousands through prayer and confession. His life stands as a powerful testament to the reality of Christ's presence and the transformative power of the Sacraments.

Why it matters for our students: Padre Pio provides an antidote to stress and anxiety, inspiring them to trust in God's plan through his reminder to "pray, hope, and don't worry." He challenges young people to seek quiet reflection amidst the busyness of modern life and to show active compassion to those in need. Ultimately, his example teaches students that true strength is found in humility, perseverance, and unwavering faith during life's hardships.

September 23: St. Vincent de Paul

Significance: Honors the French priest renowned as the patron saint of charitable works for his tireless dedication to the poor and marginalized. He revolutionized Christian charity by establishing organized relief networks and teaching that serving those in need is a direct encounter with Christ.

Why it matters for our students: For students, his life provides a compelling model of turning faith into real-world action through hands-on service and community outreach. He challenges young people to recognize the inherent dignity of every person and to approach others with active compassion and humility. Ultimately, Saint Vincent inspires students to look beyond themselves and discover that true leadership and fulfillment are found in serving others.

September 29: The Feast of Saints Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael 

Significance: It celebrates the three scripturally named Archangels who serve God as powerful defenders, messengers, and healers. This day highlights the active presence of God's heavenly assistance in the daily lives and spiritual battles of believers. 

Why it matters for our students: For students, Saint Michael provides an example of courage to resist peer pressure and stand firm in truth, while Saint Gabriel inspires them to use their words to speak encouragement and hope. Saint Raphael offers a comforting reminder that God desires spiritual and emotional healing for young people navigating life's struggles and anxieties. Ultimately, the feast reassures students that they are never alone, as God’s heavenly guardians continuously watch over, guide, and protect them.
