FRONT COVER: SSATIS Cross Country
Secondary students represented Southern Christian College at the Southern SATIS Cross Country today. Congratulations to Elsie Holland who came in 4th place and well done to all students for their encouragement towards each other and for their enthusiasm even in the cold weather!
The Aurora Australis over Southern Christian College on Saturday 11 May.
Last Thursday 26 Year 9/10 students competed against seven other schools at the Science and Engineering Challenge, hosted at UTAS and run by The University of Newcastle. This competition runs every year over three days with 7 or 8 schools competing against each other each day.
The students were challenged in teams of 3 or 4 to complete some difficult science and engineering challenges.
Our SCC team finished 2nd on the day, only missing out on first place by a very small margin. What an amazing result! That’s where we thought this ended. But, no! The SCC team was the highest-scoring runner up across the three days and is invited to compete in Launceston at the Tasmanian State Finals!
This is the first time SCC have made the State Finals and is an absolutely amazing effort by our students. Congratulations to all students involved!

From May 2024, our school, along with thousands of others across the country, will participate in the Australian Early Development Census (AEDC).
The AEDC is a teacher-completed census (similar to a questionnaire) which provides a comprehensive picture of how children have developed by the time they start their first year of full-time school. The AEDC is an Australian Government Initiative and is completed nationally every three years.
Our Prep teachers will be completing the census for students in their class. Parents of Prep students will soon receive an email with further information about the census.
Please click on the PDF below for futher information.
Our wonderful bus driver and groundsman, John Kingsbury and his wife Jess gave birth to their first child, a beautiful baby girl last week, called Mackenzie. Please keep this precious family in your prayers!
Congratulations John and Jess!
