Premiers' Reading Challenge

Dear MEPS Community,
A reminder that the Premiers' Reading Challenge (PRC) is back for 2026 and we are excited to see our MEPS students enjoying even more great books this year!
We already have 22 students who have completed the challenge so far, with many more students to go!
The PRC is a free statewide reading program that encourages children to develop a love of reading and discover new books. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to celebrate reading both at school and at home, especially with Book Week coming up in Term 3.
How does it work?
Students log their reading online using their PRC login details that were sent home last week by their classroom teacher. To successfully complete the challenge, students need to read the following number of books by Friday the 4th of September (the end of Week 8, Term 3).
Prep to Year 2
- Read 30 books
At least 20 books must be from the PRC Challenge book list
Year 3 to Year 6
- Read 15 books
At least 10 books must be from the PRC Challenge book list
Access the Challenge Book List here: https://www.vic.gov.au/premiers-reading-challenge-book-lists
Please see below for a reminder of some detailed instructions on how to log in to complete the challenge.
We encourage all students to get involved and make reading a regular part of their day. Whether it's a chapter before bed, reading with family, or exploring new books from the library, every page counts!
If you are wanting to find out more information, you can view the Premiers' Reading Challenge website via this link: https://www.vic.gov.au/premiers-reading-challenge
Good luck!
Kind regards,
Miss Samantha Brennan and Miss Rachael Nevin
