From the Principal...

Hello everyone and I hope the week has been a positive one for you and your family.

Thank you to everyone for your attendance and support of the recent parent teacher interviews. I’m sure you found these to be supportive and informative of your child’s progress. I know the staff certainly enjoyed the opportunity of connecting with you. We value highly the relationship between home and school. Your contribution and support helps so much in fostering positive outcomes for our students. As we know, learning is not confined to school hours and the connections made with home provides an invaluable opportunity for students to reflect on learning experiences. This helps to embed new knowledge and skills whilst supporting the real life application of new learning. Thank you for what you do in supporting your children and in turn supporting the school. Together We Grow!

Please be reminded of the upcoming curriculum day on August 3. Students are not required at school on this day but our OHSC service is available through TeamKids for those who need to access the supervision and program on offer.

Breakfast Club

MEPS is excited to announce the commencement of our Breakfast Club from Wednesday 29 July, with breakfast available each Wednesday from 8:15am–8:35am in the BER.

Starting the day with a nutritious breakfast supports students' wellbeing, energy levels, concentration and readiness to learn, while also providing a welcoming space for students to connect with friends and begin the day feeling supported and included. Breakfast Club is a wonderful example of our school community coming together, and we are incredibly grateful to the volunteers who have already offered their time to help make this program possible.

If you are able to assist, we would love to hear from you. Volunteers arrive from 8:00am to help prepare and serve breakfast before assisting with pack-up afterwards. Please contact Elisa Roberts at elisa.roberts@education.vic.gov.au if you are interested in volunteering.

Industrial Action

Thank you to the MEPS community for their support throughout the week. We hope that there can be a resolution to the ongoing negotiations that will provide a positive outcome for all and eliminate further actions.

Buddy Bench

This week we were grateful to the local council and Mt. Martha Men’s shed group who had previously worked with some MEPS students in creating some art work that contributed to a new Buddy Bench. On Tuesday we enjoyed the installation and the opportunity to share our thanks. The year 2 students and JSC member helped in acknowledging the people that contributed to the new addition.

Thank you to Cr. Stephen Batty for attending to help ‘Open the Buddy Bench’!

MEET planting Day

Today our MEET representatives (Mt Eliza Environment Team) celebrated National Tree Planting Day by rejuvenating one of the garden beds located between the two gymnasiums. This was a great start to the ongoing impact for the team. They will be continuing the panting program along with some painting and beautifying areas of our playground and yard. Thanks to the team and Mrs. Wilkie for their amazing work!
