Week 8: Footscray West students play fairly

At Footscray West, we play fairly so that everyone can enjoy the game and feel like they belong. Playing fairly means cooperating with others, taking turns, and following the agreed rules. We also show fair play by being good winners and good losers. When we play this way, everyone feels respected and included.

We can still be competitive when we play, but the goal is to enjoy the game together, not just to win. We show fair play when we share equipment, wait patiently for our turn, and encourage others by saying things like “good try” or “well done.” Playing fairly also means accepting the result of the game, even when it doesn’t go our way, and remembering that the most important part is having fun together.

Sometimes games can make us feel excited, frustrated, or disappointed. Learning to manage these feelings is part of playing fairly. When we stay calm, follow the rules, and treat others kindly, games stay safe, fun, and welcoming for everyone.

This week, think about the games you play and ask yourself: Am I making sure everyone gets a turn? Am I following the rules? Am I showing kindness whether I win or lose? Small choices like these help everyone enjoy the game and feel like part of the team.
