Working Bee

We had 13 amazing families come along and help out at Saturday’s working bee. The main task was to transport mulch from the produce garden area over to Yakai Barring, and spread this out to help reduce the weeds. Everyone helped with the tasks of shoveling mulch into wheelbarrows and the trailer, racing (literally in some cases!) the wheelbarrows across the oval, and then with spreading out the mulch in Yakai Barring. And let’s not forget all those who helped with the weeding in Yakai Barring as well. After a delicious afternoon tea, everyone moved to weeding near the Stella stairs and around the front of the school. And we managed to finish up just a few minutes before the afternoon rain started!
A huge shout out to all our helpers: Ebony and Emlin; Bridget, Bean, and Ari; Sam, Tahnee, Effron, and Essie; David, Evelyn, Anna, and Charles; Pip, Beck, Etta, and Del; Malcolm, Fred, and Morris; Sunny, Harry, Junie, and Sue; Miranda, Miriam, and David; Geua, Hugh, Levi, and Jack; Tess, and Daniel; Ruth, Danny, and Theo; Ann, Elliot and Noah; Imren, Brad, Ayden, and Atilla, and of course Ian - our great gardener!
And thanks to our generous working bee sponsor, Tesselaar Bulbs, each family received two packets of spring bulbs to thank them for their efforts. Happy planting!
Our next working bee will be in term 3 - stay tuned for dates and updates.
