A Message from Keir and Emma

“We would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people, the first people to dream, create, wonder, dance, play and learn on this breathtaking land. This land was cared for and respected for tens of thousands of years. The First Nations people lived in companionship with the animals and the life on this land. We acknowledge that this is stolen land and we pay our respects to elders, past, present and emerging.”
Rayma Atkinson (2023 Suzanne Peterson Award Recipient)
This week’s newsletter is a bumper issue - jam packed with lots of interesting and informative articles. For this reason, we will keep this week’s message brief.
Photos and Videos at Assembly
Just a reminder that due to Child Safe and privacy guidelines, parents/carers should not be taking any photos or videos that include any student who is not their own. This includes students in the background, or on the edges of photos or videos that you might be taking. We understand that all families want to celebrate when their child receives a Shining Star award, but we ask that you take your child away from the group if you would like to take a celebratory photo or video.
Dropping off students after 9am
Another reminder! If you are dropping off your child after 9am, you (the parent/carer) must come through the front office and make sure that your child has been correctly signed in. We understand that this can be an inconvenience for many reasons (particularly if your child is in a classroom far away from the front office!) but it is an important component of our Child Safe practices and procedures.
Reports
The BNWPS semester one 2026 reports will be published through the Sentral platform in the middle of next week. If you are unable to log onto Sentral, or you need some assistance to log in, please come and see one of the staff in the front office and they can support you.
Reports for this semester will look a little bit different to past years. This is because teachers have not written any comments. Not writing comments was one of the protected actions under the recent Industrial Action undertaken by the AEU (Australian Education Union - Victorian Branch) Although this action has ceased, the writing of semester 1 2026 report statements continues to be covered.
Reports will only include the curriculum summary page, with a VIctorian Curriculum level entered for the subjects covered in that semester. If families require more information after reports are published, there will be an opportunity to meet with teachers in week two of term three to discuss growth and goals.
