Principals' Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Week 10 and the final newsletter for the term. It's been another busy and productive term with lots of learning, events and hard work by the students and our fabulous staff.  A reminder that the last day of term for students is Thursday 2nd July as Friday is a Staff Development Day. We hope you all enjoy the school holiday break with family and friends - stay safe and stay warm.

ACS Director Visit

Recently, we were delighted to welcome Armidale Catholic Schools Director, Regina Menz, to our school. During a Learning Walk, Regina visited classrooms throughout the school, experiencing firsthand the calm, purposeful and productive learning environments that our students and staff create each day. She observed students actively engaged in their learning, demonstrating confidence, curiosity and a genuine enthusiasm for their work.

A particular highlight of the visit was spending time in Kindergarten and Stage 1, where our youngest learners proudly shared their reading and writing activities. Their excitement and eagerness to explain their learning journey were a testament to the strong foundations being built in these early years.

Semester 1 Reports and Three-Way Learning Conferences

As we approach the end of term, Semester 1 reports are now available for families to access through the Compass Parent Portal. We encourage you to take the time to read through your child’s report and celebrate their achievements and progress over the first half of the year.

Our Three-Way Student/Parent/Teacher Learning Conferences will take place next week. These meetings provide a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s learning, reflect on their progress, and set goals for the remainder of the year. Information about booking a conference time has been sent via Compass.

The meeting dates and times are as follows:

* Monday, 29th June - Kindergarten          *  Monday Afternoon, 29th June -  All Grades

* Tuesday, 30th June - Stage 2                       * Tuesday Afternoon, 30th June - All Grades

* Wednesday, 1st July - Stage 3

* Thursday, 2nd July - Stage 1

Many thanks to our class teachers who always work tirelessly, but particularly at this time of the year when preparing reports and meeting with all our parents/carers. They are looking forward to meeting with you and your child at the upcoming meetings to share the wonderful learning taking place by the students and their marvellous achievements so far this year.

NAIDOC Week

St Joseph's will be celebrating NAIDOC Week next week, providing students with opportunities to learn about and celebrate the rich histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year's theme, '50 Years of Deadly', acknowledges the organisers, artists, activists and communities who have carried NAIDOC forward for five decades, ensuring it remains grounded in culture and community.

As part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, Miss Taggart has planned a range of meaningful learning experiences for all students. Throughout the week, students will explore this year’s theme and deepen their understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

We look forward to coming together as a school community to acknowledge the significance of NAIDOC Week and thank Miss Taggart for her dedication to organising these valuable opportunities for our school community.
