Arts Showcase!

For the last 3 weeks students from Year 4 have been learning how to make coil pots. Students focussed on creating a round base using a cup template, a roller and cutting tool (the old kebab stick!). I then taught students how to roll long coils of clay and how to attach the coil to the base. Students are asked to memorize 'Score, Slip, Wiggle and Smooth' as a way of remembering how to join two pieces of clay together. Students were then shown how to create decorative coils and other artistic shapes to complete their pot. We will be spending the next two lessons under-glazing and then gloss-glazing to give the pots a colourful lift. Students have enjoyed this project and can't wait to take them home!
