Elective Music Showcase – Friday 19 June, 5:15 pm, Band Room

Join us for an enjoyable evening of music as our Years 9–11 Elective Music students take to the stage in a variety of solo and ensemble performances. This annual showcase celebrates the hard work, creativity and musical development of our students, featuring a diverse range of repertoire and performance styles.

We warmly invite families and friends to support our young musicians and enjoy what promises to be an entertaining and inspiring evening in the Band Room.

Performing Arts Cultural Tour

It was wonderful to welcome our Performing Arts Tour students and their families to the final information evening ahead of our UK and Austria tour, departing on 25 June. The session provided an opportunity to share important travel information, answer final questions and distribute the students’ tour kits.

Excitement is certainly building as we prepare for what promises to be an unforgettable journey filled with outstanding performances, world-class cultural experiences, inspiring workshops and lifelong memories.

Drama Matters

The Club Rehearsals

Students involved in the Senior Drama Ensemble have a rehearsal on Sunday (14 June) from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm in the Sarto Centre. Please come with your script and a pen so you can write up notes about your character and any blocking decisions being made. This rehearsal will make up for the missed time we have experienced this term due to staff meetings and holidays.

Year 7 assessments

Last week Year 7 Drama students performed their Making an Ad! assessment for their peers and teacher. I was really impressed with the energy and creativity from all groups as well as the commitment students demonstrated in finishing this task and supporting their peers. Well done! Next semester this group will move to Chinese, and I will have a whole new group learning about Drama.

Next term, auditions will be held for our upcoming production of Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. This exciting production forms part of the College’s 90th Anniversary celebrations and will culminate in four performances at the Zenith Theatre during Week 1 of Term 2.

Rehearsals will commence in Term 4. Cast members will need to be available after school on Mondays and Fridays, as well as on Sundays. Students will generally only be called for rehearsals involving scenes in which they appear. However, rehearsals will become more frequent during Term 1 as the full cast begins working together. There will also be compulsory holiday workshops that all cast members will be required to attend.

Further information will be released at the beginning of Term 3, so watch this space!

In addition to performers, we will also be seeking backstage crew members and musicians to be involved in the production.

Students currently in Years 7–11 are eligible to audition and participate in the play.

Audition Dates (CHOOSE ONE SESSION TO ATTEND)

Friday 14 August, 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm

Sunday 16 August, 10:00 am – 11:30 am

Students will be provided with a short monologue to prepare and will also participate in a workshop involving drama activities and performance exercises inspired by the style and themes of the play.
