IPSHA BIENNIAL CONFERENCE 2026

Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the IPSHA Biennial National Conference in Fremantle, Western Australia. Bringing together over 150 independent primary school leaders from across the country, the conference provided a valuable opportunity to connect with colleagues, explore contemporary educational research, and reflect on the challenges and opportunities facing schools today.

Across three days, keynote speakers challenged delegates to reflect on how we can remain focused on what matters most in our schools while navigating the increasing complexity of educational leadership.

A particular highlight was hearing from former AFL champion Gavin Wanganeen, whose reflections on resilience, identity and leadership resonated strongly with delegates. Sessions presented by educational leaders and researchers explored topics including building thriving school communities, leading with intention, staff wellbeing and the importance of creating cultures in which both students and staff can flourish.

I look forward to sharing many of the insights gained at the conference with colleagues as we continue to strengthen the learning experiences and opportunities available to our students.

YEAR 5 AND 6 PARENT/TEACHER/STUDENT MEETINGS

Year 5 and 6 Parent/Teacher/Student meetings will be held online via Microsoft Teams on Thursday 25 June: 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm and Friday 26 June: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Bookings can be made through the Sentral Parent Portal under the Interviews tab.

Booking window:

  • Opens: Monday 15 June, 6:00pm

  • Closes: Monday 22 June, 6:00pm

Families do not need to have Microsoft Teams installed on their device to participate. At the scheduled interview time, simply access the meeting link through Sentral. You will enter a virtual waiting room and be admitted by the teacher when the meeting is ready to commence.

Interviews are scheduled for five minutes, with additional transition time built into the schedule. Should further discussion be required, families and teachers are encouraged to arrange a follow-up meeting at a mutually convenient time.

Students are expected to wear full winter uniform to their meeting.

These meetings provide a valuable opportunity for students to reflect on their learning, celebrate achievements, receive feedback, and discuss goals for continued growth.

Semester 1 Academic Reports will be available via the Sentral Parent Portal from 3:15pm on Monday 22 June.

For assistance with bookings, please contact Ms Lisa Sutton lsutton@stpiusx.nsw.edu.au
